Function & position
Track shoes bolt onto the chain links and form the machine's contact surface with the ground. The grousers grip the soil to move the machine; grouser height and shoe width determine traction and ground pressure.
The lower the grousers are worn, the less load the machine can push or pull — shoe wear is directly measurable in lost tractive performance.

Types
- +Single grouser — bulldozers: maximum penetration and traction for dozing.
- +Double grouser — loaders and heavier machinery: a balance of traction and maneuverability.
- +Triple grouser — excavators: smooth turning with minimal ground disturbance.
- +Special profiles — curved, asymmetric, flat or swamp shoes for specific applications, plus heavy-duty versions with thicker sections for extreme, high-impact conditions.

Shoe width & ground pressure
A wider shoe lowers the ground pressure per cm², but increases the leverage on pins, bushings and rollers — and with it the wear rate of the whole undercarriage. An oversized shoe also raises the risk of shoe and chain breakage on hard ground.
The right choice is always the narrowest shoe that still gives enough flotation for the terrain the machine actually works on.

Which track shoe width should I choose?+
Wider shoes lower ground pressure for soft terrain; narrower shoes resist bending on rock and hard ground. Stick to OEM-approved widths for your model — our specialists can confirm the right width for your application.
Single, double or triple grouser — what's the difference?+
Triple grouser shoes (standard on excavators) balance traction and smooth turning. Single grouser shoes (dozers) maximize traction. Double grouser is a middle ground often used on loaders and older dozers.
Do you supply track shoes with bolts and nuts?+
Yes — we recommend fitting new track bolts and nuts with every shoe set. Ask for hardware in your quote and we'll include the exact OEM-spec bolt kit.
